How long does it take to see a NHS Psychologist

My doctor just referred me the last week to see a psychologist , I know it tends to take a long time >6 months ive heard im just wondering if anyone has a more accurate time of how long it can take?

took about 8 months for me, if you get worried just ask to see your GP about an update every couple of months.

My experience is that you will probably be 'seen' within 6 months, however this is unlikely to be a proper appointment, more like an initial meeting to see who you need to see. Then you'll have to wait another 6 months to actually see who you need to see. Or you may have to wait a lot longer, depending on your area, with a few pointless one off appointments in between which cover their arses over waiting times.

That's good to know. Did you all experience something similar to MotherKnowsBest? if that's ok to ask?
