Any Ontario, Canada Residents know of a good Doctor?
I was just recently diagnosed with AS in August by a registered psych. I asked his secretary about him filling out my forms for the Disability Tax Certificate but she said he is not familiar with the process and is going to research it. She estimated though that he would charge around $300 to fill out these papers (which in all honesty might take him all of 10minutes to do). I don't have $300 to put out for this. I took the forms to my family dr's office..found out my dr. is on maternity leave (didn't even know she was preg.) until January. The fill-in doctor won't fill out my papers because she doesn't know me. Ummm..who gives a s**t if you know me? Here is the psychologist report, read it and write down my diagnosis, the effects of AS and sign the damn thing. Like seriously.
So now that i have ranted, on to my question. Can anyone recommend a doctor in the Greater Toronto Area that would help me with this?? Someone who understands AS/ASD?

Go to your nearest Canadian Mental health Branch office and explain your situation. they are very helpful (I know AS is not a Mental Health problem, but these are very helpful people. They helped me with approaching the Psych) The Psychologist who did mine (in Barrie) did not charge me a cent. This fee I find strange. I hope it is not a scam.
Good Luck, and welcome to WP.

if you are applying for odsp, there are forms that you get that must be filled out by a doctor. These forms detail that the doctor should be billing the government itself, not the patient. I don't know about tax forms. I'm assuming that you might get more help at social services or one of those "we do your taxes for you" booths.
See if there is a branch of this group in Toronto. I found them INCREDIBLY helpful. They are government so there ought to be branches near you. Email the guy and ask.

Edit: The reason I mentioned odsp being paid by gov't is to draw a parallel - is the tax form "doctor must fill it in"? If it is, then there should be little to no cost to the patient.
