Hi.

I am wondering if any of you require a lot of sleep in order to function? If i get less than 12 hours of sleep I am tired and don't bother to do anything.

During schooldays i take naps when i get home, and I am trying to drink coffee...

It bugs me because I barely have time to do anything I like, since I am tired all the time.

Six to eight. Anything beyond is a bonus. :)

I need 6-8 hours of sleep, each night in order to function, at my best.

8-10 hours. I might do with less, but not for long and anything under 6 hours is a problem.

The longer I sleep the more tired I feel. Usually if I sleep for 4-6 hours I'm good, longer and I feel sick.

I'm similar to coldkick. If I only get, say, three or four hours of sleep, I feel much better that day than if I got eight or nine.

It depends on the day, anywhere from less than 3hs (as today) to 9 or 10

It has varied my whole life. I've been nocturnal, depended on several naps a day, slept 10 hours a day, slept at different times each day, had insomnia, not been able to stay asleep, not been able to sleep alone...

I do know if I'm not getting enough sleep I function awfully. I don't understand a society that can essentially make people sleep deprived so that they depend on coffee and stimulants just to be able to do their office jobs and that they can do all this without melting down in the first place. It's awful.

I have delayed sleep phase disorder (which, like autism, synesthesia, and everything else I have... my parents deny its existence and blame it on the devil f**k f**k f**k!). So, I typically average 4 hours a night and need to be knocked out on something anyway.

Average about 4-5 hours a night, when I go to sleep at 10 PM and wake up at 7 AM. Yup that's really supposed to be 9 hours, but I can only sleep 1-3 hours at a time due to a sleep disorder. Sometimes I fall asleep during lectures or on the bus - sleep for a few seconds/minutes. After I have achieved REM sleep (take me less than 5 minutes.. yes that's 12 times faster than the average) I'm good to go for a few hours.

I function best when I get 8 or 9 hours of sleep. But I'm a very busy college student, and I often only get 6 or 7 hours a night, and even less around the end of the semester. I can function okay, but not nearly as well as I do when I get more sleep.
