I have an issue where I can often visualise what I want, or what I would like to ask someone to do for me, like get out of my way, but I can't get the words to come out of my mouth.

Sometimes I wonder about whether I would be better off learning sign language........this won't work in general, like with other people, but it might work with my hubby, who actually knows sign language. It might help with my communication with him.

I just can't get the words to come out quick enough even though I can hear them in my imagination.

This happens a lot with me as well. Kinda frustrating. Alcohol makes it easier to dump the words outta my head, so just stay boozed up :thumright: j/k

I have days like that. I want to talk and I have a lot to say, but the words won't come out. I told that to my LD teacher in high school and she told me something stupid like, "It's because you don't want to talk."

The thing is that I wanted to talk to the girls in my regular classes, but I couldn't get the words to come out of my mouth. What made it even more frustrating, was that the woman who I turned to for help for that, was no help at all to say something stupid, like that.

I have the same thing too. I have thoughts and feelings on things but I can't put them into words, it's like my thoughts are on a more primitive level.

Yeah. I have a hard time with the whole verbalizing bit myself. I keep wondering how complicated I would make the lives of others if I just permanently shut up... but like you said about signing, it does not work in most situations.. it ends up being as effective as the words that do not come out. I thought about just toting about notebooks to write for the people. It can be very frustrating to know what to say and be unable to speak and if and when they do come it is always too late and the moment has passed.

I have had the same problem my entire life. With people I'm close to, I explain that I have what I call a "brain to speech translator"... that I have these worlds inside my head and I have to conciously turn them into words. Turning my inside world into speech is like handing someone a piece of paper and a pencil and telling them to draw the entire universe. You can get a basic concept, but the majority of the idea can't be properly conveyed.

What's worse is the fact that when I am overwhelmed or emotional, the translator is the first thing to go. It renders me effectively mute.

I often wish I had a projector in the middle of my forehead.

I can talk just fine, but idthere ias somethin important to say and any kind of emotionasl pressure past a certain limit I can stammer or freeze up.

And often, if my first explanation does not work I have to go to diagrams.

I know I have problems like that. It drives me crazy because I can describe exactly what I want in great detail, however I just can't say the world.

The other annoying thing I have really noticed about myself is I will often finish other peoples sentences if I feel they are going to slow for me. I know it's rude of me, but they are so boring and if I already know what they are going to say, I just want them to get on with it.
