I'm taking a behind the wheel driving class coming up and soon after that I'll be taking a drivers test. My parents agree that I'll do just fine and so does everyone else, but yet although I look calm on the outside, I still feel anxious about it. I'm afraid of doing one simple mistake and probably ending up losing points and possibly a license. I'm not concerned about driving, but I just need help with my anxiety. It's a battle I've always fought as a kid to this day. I'm just wondering how do you overcome anxiety from time to time?

Maybe bring with you familar things with you - if you are obsessed with a certain colour/brand/anything and it can come in your pocket/backpack/purse (if you're a girl). When you start feeling anxious, think about the object and what it means to you. I have a lucky rock that helps me with this, it's especially good for Aspies with fixations on certain objects because it puts something calming in a stressful situation without detracting from the situation itself.
Breathing is important too. Make sure that when you breathe in, your stomach/lungs expand (like a balloon) and when you breathe out, that it deflates. It's amazing how many people do the opposite and don't get as much oxygen because of it :)

I struggle a lot with anxiety. The only strategy Ive got is to control my breathing. I try to make my breaths slower and deeper until its all Im thinking about and then hopefully I can relax and breath normally. Doesnt always work tho.

Good luck.
