What did you guys think of the movie if you saw it? (Maybe old topic...)

I just saw it recently by accident, my brother found it on his ps3 through netflix.

Any other aspergers movies suggestions?

Ben X is my favorite. Mary and Max is too depressing, but overall has a good message about friendship.

I really loved it. Not just as an AS film, but as a movie on its own.

And it was sad, but I liked the way it ended.

The main character in Titan A.E. always seemed very aspieish to me. He is able to fix just about anything through out of the box methods, relates well to aliens but seems kinda clueless around other people and comes off as an arogant jerk. Even in the prequel books, he still seemed very aspieish. Titan A.E. is a special intrest and even the basis for my lizard special intrest.

"Mary and Max" is a brilliant film. I recommend it to pretty much anyone (and depending on maturity and age, everyone). Max is well researched, and very fascinating (although I don't directly relate with him). Mary is a great charater as well. The way that she deals with the crap in her life reminds me of how actual children do deal with hardships. I also like the fact that her parents are not portrayed as evil - just dysfuntional and distant. They don't seem to be fully aware of the damage they inflict on their child. What I find interesting (though some people might find insulting) is that the obsessions that Max has is similar to the escapism that Mary uses to create stability and make sense of the world. They see the world at the same level, even when Mary is older and more aware of the world around her. It's simply a stunning film.

My only realy criticsm towards it is that Max is diagnosed with Aspergers roughly during the 70's (at least he tells Mary about it in the mid 70's). It wasn't even added to the DSM until 1993. FAIL.

Also, the film has a strange pace. It starts to build up too slowly at the beginning and then it starts to go a bit too quickly near the end. Despite those problems, they do NOT detract from my enjoyment of it that much.

It's not an "asperger film". It's just a really good film that features a character with aspergers and that is how it should be.

You can add me to the fan list. I really enjoyed the movie, depressing or not. I think I will watch it again soon. I always kind of felt like Mary was AS also, but just wasn't dx'd. I was really surprised that she wasn't at any point in the film.

I wanted to see Snow Cake, but it wasn't an instant download and my husband has tons of crap on our ship to home list so it may be a while.

We've also been watching Parenthood (on NBC) and I actually like how they portray the AS family.
