I remember TV gameshows with tasks based on intelligence, teamwork and physical skill. They used to be popular before the bullying and humiliation shows took over. The constant theme of these was that survival relied on a broad skill base, and being only an athlete or an intellectual did not result in success.
Often, the winner was the most "likeable" and least "competitive" person competing, probably because they did not have an unbalanced, monomaniac competitive streak.
