I'm talking about when you just kind of freeze, your eyes go out of focus, and you lose touch for a a few seconds or more.
You may have trouble re-focusing afterwards.
This happens to me a few times an hour or even more....depending on what I'm doing. more boring stuff a few times an hour to half the time, something really enjoyable perhaps once an hour or every couple.
is that an AS symptom or ADD symptom or what? is there a specific term for it?

A few times a day, I think. It can get annoying too, and it's annoying when I'm watching something on TV and I space out.

When I've been under stress and without medications, I spaced out constantly, like 40% of the day. However, I now stress out rarely because I'm really into living my life.

when I was 17 my mind was definitely spaced out all the time!

but seriously, I know what you mean. I can be doing anything and its like I just suddenly stop being for a few seconds. Thinking about it its kinda like what I imagine people mean when they talk about out of body experiences, because its like I suddenly land back in my own body and have to completely remind myself where I am and what I was doing. Like I've been switched off and have to very quickly turn myself back on. It still happens very regularly for me, I notice it more or less everyday.

I do get this, but I think it's mostly due to mental fatigue. If I'm especially busy and have to work through my lunch break, at about 3:00pm I'll start spacing out and I’ll spend the rest of the afternoon slipping in and out of the ‘trance’. However on most days when I'm able to get a good hour away from my desk at lunch it doesn't happen.

It sometimes occurs at home when I'm trying to fit a lot of tasks into a short space of time. I think it's just my brain's way of telling me I’m overdoing it and to slow down.

I'm not sure what it's a symptom of, but I've always been this way! I space out a lot. I think I spent most of my childhood spaced out when I was in my own little world drawing pictures. Now, instead of drawing pictures, I just "space out" and do nothing. I connect the two things and think they are related. My brain needs those moments for some reason. Maybe it's connected to stimming or talking too much? I did those things, too.

Depends on what I'm doing. If I'm engaged with something it could be a few hours between the spaceouts. If I'm reading a boring book it could be every minute or two. And everything in between.

The only constant is that yes I space out all the time, every day.

I voted about once an hour, but it really depends. When I'm stressed, I feel like this a lot more than when I'm relaxed, so it can go from pretty much all the time to rarely.

Quite often, usually if I am focusing on something, my eyes blur and my mind just gets fuzzy. Usually only lasts for half a minute or so, but it adds up.

I don't think I do. Unless you're counting the times where I stop doing things like manual task or climb down stairs, but that because I thinking about things.

I already read about such "space out" in a book. but it was about the intellectually gifteds. Aparently it's coming from the brain "freezing" from thinking too much. And as aspies and gifted got in common (among some things) the habit of thinking too much...
