I'm looking to take an overseas trip, and to do that I need an immunisation shot. I've never had an immunisation shot and am rather wary of them. So I would like to ask of the community who has had an immunisation shot and have you had any adverse affects from it.

Please no speculation or ad-homs.

This is a simple question; who has had one, and did you have any adverse reactions?
Thanks.

I've had the usual lot for the United States: measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, smallpox, polio, influenza (not all at once). I had no ill effects, but I'm not sure if there are additional vaccinations necessary if one is going to tropical countries. Tell your doctor if you have any allergies of any sort, especially to eggs, since the influenza vaccine is incubated in eggs.

Your nation and the nation(s) that you visit will determine which immunization(s) you will be required to have if you wish to travel. It isn't usually too many. My advice (if you choose to be immunized) is to schedule the immunization(s) two or three weeks in advance of your travel so, if you have any adverse drug reactions (brief illness or dizziness), you can get past the reactions without them interfering with your travel.
