A post by another member triggered this idea in me, and rather than hijack that thread, I thought maybe a poll, to see how many people share this opinion about their own voice.

Personally, I hate my recorded voice.
Though the way it sounds in my head is fine. 8O

My voice doesn't ever do what I want it to do... :x

I hate my voice! I sound way too monotone (which could be the result of my Asperger's). And whenever I actually do have any emotion in my voice, it sounds all jacked up. I wish I sounded more like an average twenty-something year-old girl than Ben Stein.

I hate my voice, I'm often chosen to speak in front of all coz I have a funny voice, it has a very high pitch and I've an accent that is between indiscribable, gay-ish mexican (not garden variety mexican, but kinda mexican tv presenter)
I'd also (as rmctagg said) would prefer ppl heard my voice as I do, I was shocked when my voice was imitated, I'd never 've thought it sounded as that

I love my voice. I sound like one of my favourite celebrities.

I can't stand the sound of my voice...I think it sounds like someone much younger (I'm in my 40s) but a lot of other people seem to like it...I don't get it.

I like my voice because I speak in a voice that i can tolerate hearing. I am somewhat repelled by other people's voices though,...depending on the person..

I "talk-sing" a lot of the time..meaning that often when i am talking, I am actually singing, somewhere down the line, I believe it was mentioned to me that that uses a sorta different part of the brain than regular talking...Among my earliest memories are those of having singing drilled into me by my paternal grandmother, and it has long been a theory of mine that that is basically how I learned to talk in the first place..

I usually tend to like both, but I am curious to learn more about that guy I recorded!

I have been working on this, but it has always felt fake. I just try to ignore the sound of my recorded voice because I know that's how everyone else hears me.

I shout and scream when I go to nightclubs because I want to make my voice deeper haha - and I like getting caught up in the moment.

Oh! And did you know that your voice only sounds richer to you because bone is better at conducting sound than air?

I'm quite aware of that fact.

Oh okay sorry. I just saw your earlier post. When I learned that fact it helped me try to ignore my recorded voice when other people heard it. It still does make me uncomfortable though.
