I just narrowly averted a meltdown triggered by our youngest child screaming b/c...well, because he was bored was the core reason. Anyway, I came really close but I'm not sure I fully avoided it. No shutdown but I had to go do the dishes to get some isolation. And while I was coming off the meltdown ramp up, I noticed I was amazingly clumsy. More so than normal. Has anyone else noticed this happening to them, please?

Yes, I know that. When I am close to a meltdown or shutdown I am clumsier than usual. I am clumsy when I feel better, too, but then it gets worse.

Yes, I have. I sure wish I'd noticed this a lot earlier in life, though. Would have saved a lot of trouble over the years.

Yes - I'm big time clumsy after a meltdown.

I usually get more clumsy too when I feel like I'm about to meltdown/shutdown.

I feel much better knowing that it's normal. And, it's nice knowing that there is a "normal" that fits instead of the NT normal! I was as clumsy as when I'm dehydrated or have low blood sugar - maybe I'm usually able to focus and mostly compensate, I guess???

Definitely. I've noticed that things slip out of my hands like I'm not fully mentally connected to my own hands. Pre-meltdown, or if I'm just having a bad day, I try not to pick up anything made of glass because I'll break 2 or 3 glasses in one day.

I also get alittle more clumsy.

I hope you are feeling better today.

I think this is a normal reaction when the brain reaches boiling point.

I also get more clumsy when I'm under physical or emotional stress. Though when I'm close to a meltdown I get stiff and jerky and use too much force, while when tired, overloaded or hypoglycemic I get limb and wobbly and tend to fall down or run into things.

Don´t know about meltdowns, but I become very clumsy if too much is happening at once, stressing me, and I´m supposed to navigate through it.

I find clumsiness to be a "normal" reaction to feeling overwhelmed.

I get clumsy when I'm meltdowning or overly emotional or upset for some reason.
