cool i just found out im not the only one in my neighborhood

theres a new neighbor who moved in close by and my mom was talking with her and somehow they got into the topic of the spectrum and and the neighbor said one her kids has "a touch of autism"

im not the only spectrumite anymore lol

That's good to know.


I think we need more people on the spectrum. I firmly believe that if nothing else, people with ASD's TEND to be more tolerant of human diversity and more kindly towards those who are different from them.

I'd say we see the same tendancy among gay people and other minorities as well.



Sadly though....this is hardly always the case.



Just the other day I heard someone in another WP forum referring to a intellectually-disabled person as a "mong". You would think someone with AS/ASD's would know better. That derogatory and dehumanizing term is no more acceptable than the "N word" and I hope the moderators take note of it.

That effect will probably disappear if ASDs become more common and accepted-- unless there's societal change to go with it.

Well, congrats. I cannot tell you how great it was to meet my first clear coplanetary - age 32 or so and long before I knew sanything about the spectrum.
