What are your opinions? I've been taking Vyvanse and was given adderall for when I need to study to take on top of the Vyvanse. My parents mention that Adderall is more serious as far as side effects go. also with my insurance vyvanse waas $180 and adderall was $8 (though I'm unsure what Adderall XR which is long lasting like Vyvanse costs)

I find that while it really does help me with some level of functionality, I am still extremely vulnerable to straying completely off task...I took a hearty dose this morning and feel as distracted as if I had not taken anything....i am allll over the place and it is taking me forever to do my works.

uh no thanks.

I called my insurance. vyvanse is not covered but my psychiatrist can applly for an exception. The cost would go down to up to $40 if granted.

You do know that 'Vyvanse' and 'Adderall' are just brand names for honest-to-goodness amphetamine, right?

I don't take Adderall now but I took it in the past. I didn't have any strange side effects.

Unless cleaning the windows, tub, sinks, and ceiling fans with a toothbrush is a strange side effect.

What's the difference between those two drugs?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adderall

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vyvanse

"As opposed to Adderall, which contains roughly 75% dextroamphetamine and 25% levoamphetamine, lisdexamfetamine is a single-enantiomer (dextro) amphetamine formula. This pure formulation may reduce side-effects, but certain individuals exhibit a better clinical response to the mixed isomer preparation, and so choose Adderall XR or equivalent generics."

I see the difference, now. Thank you. :)

My impression was Vyvanse was the drug companies way of getting more money out of people. It conveniently came out shortly before adderall XR went generic, and the pharmaceutical company also stopped their free meds for the poor program for adderall xr. I thought i heard somewhere they are very similar, your body converts what is in vyvanse to the meds in adderall xr. Supposed to have less abuse potential too.

I take generic adderall (short acting) and it does wonders for me.

That's interesting. I actually do better with Adderal than pure d-amphetamine. Dextrostat (pure d-amph.) puts me to sleep, whereas Adderal is energizing.

Vyvanse is the pro-drug for dextroamphetamine, which is half of what's in Adderall. I find that Vyvanse causes fewer side effects for me and lasts longer. It's more expensive, but to me it's worth it.
