Who diagnosed you?
Was it your primary doctor? A specialist? The state you live in?

I want to go in, but unsure of who to initially contact. My son was diagnosed by the state, but I want to avoid the state as best I can. I've had enough of them. lol

a neuropsychologist I took the testing on a Friday got the results on the following Monday. NY state 8) Try to locate a local autistic services organization they wii send you a list of specialists in your area. Thats what I did. Some of the specialsts get paid on a sliding scale i n case you have problems with your insurance refuse testing. Good luck. :D

Hey. You're from Depew. I work in Clarence. Have you gone to the adult Asperger's support group that Autistic Services runs? I was thinking of going to see what goes on.

I am scheduled for a formal evaluation in Decemeber, but it involves 6 consecutive meetings with the psychologist.

Psychiatrist and my pediatric physician both said that I have Asperger's syndrome and ADD (I was diagnosed at 10), though my father suspected AS when I was much younger, probably five or six. I'm not sure if the psychiatrist "specializes" in autism, but a majority of her patients have ASDs.

There was this good doctor in the GTA who specialized in Asperger's who I was supposed to see but didn't. I think he moved hours away or he might have retired. I saw this younger doctor who diagnosed me. He doesn't work with people who have AS anymore. :(

Well, the first doctor to suspect that I had it was my primary physician. I went in to have my blood drawn because my psychiatrist wanted to check my thyroid and she started asking me and my mom a bunch of questions and told us that she suspected that I had AS. Then we went back to my psychiatrist and he confirmed the diagnosis. To be extra sure, we booked an appointment with the leading autism specialist in Idaho and the diagnosis was confirmed again.

Our primary care physician made the initial diagnosis of our son, we then went to a psychiatrist and we received the same diagnoses. Both doctors said they believe I have it also.

My therapist brought up the possibility about 5 years ago, but my psychiatrist (who has experience in autism) officially diagnosed me.

I went to the university's clinic here and was told I have AS traits by the psychologist (not an ASD specialist) that I couldn't have AS because I was married - never mind the results of all the tests.

One day when I have the money I'll go see a specialist.
