Firstly, you should explain to your boss that you had ADHD--he may be able to sympathize with your tardiness if he understood the underlying medical condition behind your behavior.
Secondly, if you have the time or energy to read, I recommend reading the works of Dr. Daniel G. Amen; personally, I've only read Magnificent Mind At Any Age, which, while going a great detail into ADHD and some of the more holistic ways to manage it, is more generally focused to overall brain health. He's also written several books specifically for ADD/ADHD. If reading isn't something that you are inclined to do, then perhaps you can rent/purchase the audiobooks for the mentioned books.
Perhaps you can find something that you truly, deeply, utterly care about and devote your energy to it. Find your life passion, your true hobby, the one thing that all of the fragmented pieces of yourself can come together and focus on; this may be easier said than done, yes, but, once you find it, you can find so much of a greater balance in life.
Speaking of balance, perhaps you could attempt meditation or something rather similar to it (yoga, tai-chi, ect.).
Best of luck to you in dealing with this, and I hope that your suffering ends soon.

There are other meds out there, including some that have little or no addiction risk. Ask your doc for one of those others.

2 Benadryls before you go to bed and an energy drink next to the alarm clock. Granted it's a pisspoor substitute for Adderall or Ritalin but cheap and easy to get. Just don't drink more than 3 cans a day

Therein lies the paradox
implied by the subjective definition of "addiction".
If a drug actually helps and makes one's life better,
then one will naturally want to continue using it for that reason,
and then certain people will leap to accusations of "addiction".

I won't advocate for or against any drug on this thread—not my business.
With that said, sometimes making the choices that are right
for you means standing up against ignoramuses and hypocrites.
