No ideas but yep. If I’m not pacing for a good hour before getting into bed I'm in bed not getting to sleep.

I have been told that stretching muscles helps you sleep. Starting with your feet and gradually working up wour body. Don't know if it works though.

Also, apparently counting sheep keeps you awake.

I've also read you should stop watching screens (TV, computer) half an hour before you're going to go to sleep otherwise it's harder to drop off.

For some reason, it always happens to me on Sunday nights.

I used to have terrible trouble but since my underactive thyroid issue, I get very tired, so not usually a problem unless the mattress is digging into me...I cannot sleep with light or noise either.

I've tried lots of things. But the weirdest thing I read actually works for me.

Instead of counting forwards, count backwards starting from a high number eg 68 932, 68 931 ...

I've also found acupuncture really good.

Various things that have worked for me:
-stretching before bed particular leg, hip, glute, and back muscles
-less caffeine during the day, including in the morning
-not eating for 3-4 hours before going to sleep
-vigorous exercise during the day, preferably more than 5 hours before sleep
-devote the bed and bedroom more clearly to sleep, i.e. don't read in bed
-melatonin, but I get the really weak ones only 200 mcg, not the typical 3 mg

My sleep pattern has always been a mess! At the moment I have trouble getting off and keep waking up at 5am. All I want is a restful nights sleep!

I find it difficult to get to sleep, I think it's because I can't stop thinking. I usually just listen to my iPod for a bit, I don't actually know if that helps though, it seems to. I don't have any problems with staying asleep once I am asleep though.

Somewhat related to this thread: I enjoy anything and everything to do with sleep, even just lying in bed with the look of stupor; I'm a bat too...or is it a bear that’s in perpetual hibernation?

Sleepy time fun.

i just dont bother to go to bed till my mind is totaly over tired, I find listing to music helps me a lot it gives me something to focus on that wont keep my mind to active. I also do a thing I call story stiming I make up a little simple story in my head and just keep replaying it making miner adjustments every time, but if u don’t do in right it can keep your mind to active

Sort of. I can only sleep in total darkness... sometimes that means putting a pillow over my head or something similar. Even if I can barely see an inch in front of me I can’t sleep. The light can be sort of seen through even closed eyes and it’s extremely irritating.

I have major issues in the sleep department. I have trouble going to sleep and once I am asleep I have bad night terrors

I like to sleep, but I have trouble sleeping because I think about too much that I am obsessed about!
