How do they differ from just as knowledgeable and intelligent people who choose not to do so?

Uhmm, uhmm... Being louder and wordy?
Just kidding.

I think the difference is that not everyone with knowledge and intellect takes upon a point of view or idea and represent the knowledge through that. :?:

They want to do a change for other autistic people and make their lives easier in the future and for future people who will be autistic when they exist.

Anyone can be an autistic advocate, you can be an NT and still be one. There have been autism moms out there that were autism advocates because of their child on the spectrum.

Am I an "autistic advocate" when I explain to school psychologists that sensory overload is not a "motivation issue"?
They even seem to listen to me...

It makes you an advocate for your child.

I think this would describe lot of special need parents.
