I remember melting down when I could not reach the door handle and turn it. I don't know how old I was, but watching my daughter (who is just smaller than me) I was around 2.
I remember melting down when my favorite red velvet dress didn't fit. It had pleated, lettuce edged lace that was pretty without being scratchy, and I loved the color and feel of the velvet. I don't know how old I was, but I was shocked how tiny it was seeing it as an adult. At the time, when I tried it on, I feel as though I could remember wearing it, but I have no such recollection now. Perhaps they just told me the dress had once been mine.
The earliest memory we can put a solid date on is my oldest brother's high school graduation. I clearly remember the dress, and having a picture taken of me in it just after struggling to shut the stupid screen door (which was heavy and ALWAYS off it's runners). Pink dotted swiss (I LOVED dotted swiss, but only if the dots were raised...now we know why...LOL!), with two black ribbons down either side of the bodice where they wouldn't itch. I also remember the ceremony, and was able to tell my mom all about the way the local high school did their procession when I had never been to another one. I would turn three two months later.
