Hi,

Just wanted to know if anyone else did this when they were a kid, or similar things.

I always got upset if my mom didn't tie my shoes really tight when I was little. I would wear 2 pairs of socks and tie my laces so tight it hurt. It would drive me nuts to wear loose shoes.

I've since, years later, linked it to a food allergy or reaction after noticing I still get that feeling (not just with my shoes) after eating foods with preservatives in them.

I was recently diagnosed with Aspergers so I'm researching a lot.

Thanks for any replies!

:D

I was like that as a very young kid, I'd be screaming with anger if my shoes weren't squeezing my feet. And before I could tie my laces I had to keep saying "tighter! Tighter!"

I used to drive my poor mum mad when I was a kid. Not only did my shoes have to be tight but my cuffs on my sleeves had to be exactly the same size at all times. I was constantly measuring them by putting my wrists together and then stopping what I was doing to go to her to straighten them up. I also used to have to have my vest tucked in really tightly to my knickers, so much so that in the end she got one of my sister's nappy pins and pinned my vest and pants together which eventually left great big holes in my vests. I also had to have my trousers pulled up really high and my mum would actually lift me off the floor by the waistband and shake me into them. Then the socks had to be held up with elastic bands around the top so that they didn't fall down.

My family still take the piss out of me now over this (I was her most aggravating daughter) but I still have to have things equal on both sides.

Did I mention I have OCD :?:

I tie my shoes pretty tight, which has in the case of my latest pairs of summer and winter shoes has lead to about 10 pairs of laces being ruined due to the metal "hooks" that are at the top of the shoes in question. I badly need new shoes, but living at 3700sek/month in disposable money after rent/electricity makes it somewhat difficult due to my need to buy new video games. ._.

Not really tight or else it digs into my foot and cuts off the circulation and then my foot will start to feel funny. I didn't start getting this until I was an adult so I wonder what's changed? So I have it a little loose but if it's too loose, I don't like it. I like it snug.

Loose shoes are almost excruciatingly awful.

My shoe laces can never seem to stay tied. No matter how tight I tie them the knots come loose within about 30 mins of use and I have to keep retying them. It's really annoying.

I have this problem as well. Or did. Now I avoid laces if at all possible.

I really hated when they'd come undone within the first five minutes.

Yeah I'm always tying my shoes to keep them tight or it doesn't feel right.

I don't really wear tennis shoes anymore (I wear moccasins), but when I did I always tied the laces very tightly and when they were "too lose" I had to stop and adjust them.

I have a similar thing with those wristbands they make you wear to the fitness centre or pool. The person who gives to me always put them on EXTREMELY loose and I need them EXTREMELY tight, which people think is odd. I usually ask a person I know to put it on for me, because I can't put them on myself.

I also only like them on my right wrist. I can wear something on my left wrist, as long as I am also wearing something on my left wrist. I can things on my right wrist without anything on my left wrist. OK, got it?

No, I can't stand shoes tied tightly. I can't remember for sure how it was when I was little though.

I've always needed my shoes tight. Otherwise, with each step, I notice the shoe moving around my foot, or my foot moving within the shoe. It's distracting and almost as annoying as having a pebble in my shoe.

I wear boots. I like the laces over my instep snug, but not tight. However, at the top of the boots I crank it pretty tight. If I walk around a lot I usually end up having to re-tie them to get them tight again. If I wear regular shoes I just like them snug. I do an alternative lacing pattern that lets me snug up the laces at the top without putting too much pressure on my instep.

I also like my belt tight. I wear my watch band tight enough to leave an impression on my wrist at the end of the day.

ANY ONE HERE NOT ABLE TO TIE THEIR SHOES?

My husband cant tie the proper way. He ties with the 2 loops then ties them together. He isnt stupid, he is very intellegent, but this is something he could never grasp. Over his head! His shoes always come untied because those ties dont stay.

twinsmummy20:

I tie my shoes the following way:

1. Cross the laces.

2. In each hand, make a loop.

3. Knot the loops.

I never learned any other way of tying a shoe, and can't imagine doing it differently.
