So far, the people who think I'm an Aspie

my wife (who figured it out)
my mom (I wrote her a letter, letting her know, she knew I was always different--so I didn't do the social activities of my brother)
friends who visit us (one is now a licensed psychiatrist, another sees DXed Aspies for many years and sees how they grow up)

I think that may have been true just 10 years ago, but I've done a lot of work on my social interaction skills, so I can now interact with NTs well enough that I get invited to attend club functions. I even dress better than a lot of NTs. I've even worked on my phone skills, so they are above average, compared to my co-workers. Conversation is rarely an issue--I can normally think of something interesting enough to say that I can hold the conversation as long as necessary. No problem talking to the other workers in the lunch room, unless I'm tired or don't feel like it. In groups, I can often think of something really interesting and appropriate, something that I wasn't able to do when I was younger. Thus, I doubt that I could get a disability diagnosis, despite the fact that I've managed to make almost every single Aspie faux pas at some time in my life. So, what should I call myself, besides extremely fortunate?

Asperger's is neurological. You still have autism, you just compensated and learned new skills.

I desensitized myself to looking into people's eyes and learned not to yell at my wishy-washy husband who is really flexible vs. my inflexibility and our different uses of declarative sentences etc., but I'm still a mild aspie. Yeah, I was one really weird kid, and now I'm a mildly weird adult. We can compensate and learn new skills, as the above noted, but it seems that I will always think differently.

I get milder as years go by. I still have traits and always will. But it gets worse when I am not working so working keeps me in balance and I am more functional. The internet mostly helps. Maybe more of it would come out if I went to school again, it sure did in my last two relationships. And relationships are still hard for me. I can't keep up with the rules because then I eventually burn out like I did last year.
