Can you tell if another person has Asperger's? Have you guessed that someone had it and then found out that it was indeed true?

Not only am I good at spotting potential aspies in the wild - so are all of my immediate family members. :)

It's like a sixth sense.

Considering that it took 52 years to spot it within myself, I would have to say I suck at it.

not sure, but autistic kids find me in stores and stand near me. I have even gotten hugged and my hand grabbed to get held by autistic kids, and their parents got all excited, cause they did something without being asked.. was kind of freaky at first especially since i am in my 30's, to have little kids come up to me as if i was a costumed character at disneyland.

I once worked at this place where I met a group of people and one guy stood out in an Aspie-ish sort of way. I got to talking with him and when I asked how he was he launched into this really technical description of what he had been working on in his previous job which made absolutely no sense to me; i.e. lots of job-specific words that only his co-workers would know. I immediately thought, 'Aspie'. We actually turned out spending a lot of time together and getting along so well that management found it necessary to separate us in the interests of productivity. XD

I'm quite perceptive at seeing some of the Aspie traits, but I'd never declare that anybody was an Aspie for sure......I don't have much faith in the black-and-white concept of "Aspie or not-Aspie," and if I try to fill in an AQ-test or similar score-sheet for them, I soon discover that I don't know enough about them to answer half the questions (probably because I'm in a little world of my own most of the time). I know at least 4 people I'd say have some strong Aspie traits. I often see Aspie traits in past friends and partners, and sometimes I wonder if I'm an Aspie magnet because I can't find many people I've been particularly close to who seem to be entirely NT. I know a guy who suspects that every musician he's ever met (and he's met a lot) has AS.

Neah mine sucks and I don't pin labels on people over one trait or a few. They could coincidentally have it or just have those traits or have something else.

I saw a few in my first ex and my last ex had it too but I went by what he said about himself and I suspected it even if I couldn't see his traits. I also suspect this kid in my elementary school might have had it and I would say he was a severe case of it. But I knew then he wasn't "normal" and he had something wrong with him and other kids seemed blind to that, even grown ups.

And what's funny is sometimes people seem AS but yet they don't have it. I have seen that online. I figure they maybe have the traits and didn't have enough to be on the spectrum.

I notice the kind of people I pick to hang out with or feel I can connect to are weird too or have quirks. I don't know if they are aspies or just weird.

I think babies can, when I'm in stores the babies stare into my soul...it really creeps me out.

Personally though, my friends all have some of the traits, whether or not they could be diagnosed is another story.
