I have a question about Community Support systems for Autism/Asperger Syndrome.

Why is it in a small town people act uncomfortable to get involved in Community support systems and in moderatly large to large cities, people are more willing to give supports, even though they feel uncomfortable about Autism/Asperger Syndrome?

I'd like to know the answer to this question too.

In a big city, I can give money to an organization and not have to actually SEE the things they do. In a small town, people might even know some of those being helped by such organizations, or worse, be asked to volunteer time. Volunteering time would mean actually having to interact with disabled and LFA people. God forbid. Giving money then turning away from the gritty details alleviates the conscience.

Maybe that's too cynical a take on it?
