For some reason, I cannot manage to have deadlines. I get very overwhelmed and stressed.
is this a symptom of asperger's?

I find that I can work more efficiently and with greater concentration when the deadline is drawing nearer. If I have been given a certain amount of time to finish a project, I will usually not do much about in the beginning and only start to pick up speed in the last third of the alotted time.

For me, this effect is so drastic that I have began to set deadlines for myself even on "normal" things like making a dentist appointment to keep myself from procrastinating too much. Most of the time, it works fine, even though I know that those are "fake" deadlines.

Deadlines tend to stress me out. But some people on the spectrum prefer deadlines because it gets them to do it because if there is no deadline, then they never get it done.

I am fine with deadlines like with taxes or when to make an appointment or when to pay your bills. I know I have a deadline for when to get my Oregon License places and it's not till the end of August 2011 but I don't want to wait too long or I will get stressed out when the deadline is nearing.

the problem I have is that I have so many deadlines that I get flustered. I don't know where to begin or how to do things in an efficient manner. Then I get so stressed out that I become very upset. Then nothing gets done in a timely manner. It would be nice if everything in life came one at a time, as if on a conveyor belt.

This is what I am facing at the moment. I only have 1 deadline, and it's this friday is a craft fair i want to do, but i have been working on it for the last 3 weeks with nothing getting done. this deadline is optional, as I don't have to participate in the craft fair but I really want to.

Deadlines really stress me out. I used to get really stressed out in high school, because of the deadlines alone.

Likewise. I often find that having deadlines is the only way I can get things done. If the set deadline doesn't give me enough time to approach whatever it is at my own pace, however, it stresses me out immensely and ends up being counterproductive.
