He was dead honet about it too, like he wasent trying to insult me, he was just truly curious, i just kinda laughed on the inside and said im goin to post this on wrong planet later

I havent seen my dad in over 10 years. I think fathers just want there sons to turn out the way they want. i've heard other dads tell thier sons,
"Hey you'll understand when you have children!" so be it. move out if you dont like it?

He wonders how you make your choices. He wonders why you to make other choices than what he would make.
He wonders why you do things that are seemingly against your own self interest.
He can't read your face or your body, he can't tell what you are thinking. He wonders why he can't understand his own son.

unfortunately, he doesn't have a lot of tact

the wonder of how you make your choices completely excapes his ability to imagine your inner life. I think the word he is looking for is 'unusual' in stead of stupid. People who can read facial expressions and body language have it so encoded into their conciousness they really can't grasp the idea that someone who is able to tune in only 10% of what they use to communicate. They have no idea why other people can't pick up on all that, because they have never lived with out that ability.

It's easy to imagine being blind, just close your eyes. And hold your ears and you can understand what deafness is. Have a cold and you know what it is like to not have the sense of taste or smell. But how do you get someone that can't turn off the facial expressions/body language dance to understand we aren't stupid, we just don't understand that body language very well.

I think we do pretty well if you think we really don't understanding 90% of what is going on in the world!

I'm doing my best to be a dad that doesn't suck. I learned all that I know about being a good father and a good person by observing my dad and imagining the opposite.
I'm doing really good so far, we'll see.
I hope your dad comes around, but if he doesn't you'll still go on and you'll be stronger for it.

My dad died when I was a baby. Killed himself after I had cancer. No offense, but you guys are lucky to even get to know your dads. It's amazing how many people take that for granted.

Well, my mother asks me the same question. And it seems pretty common from what I've heard.

My dad is the one who has been telling me since I was nine years old there are lot of stupid people in the world and lot of people are stupid. He has even said there are lot of strange people in the world. I found out he was right. I just needed the internet to see it. I hear about stupidity and get shocked and see people act stupid online and I've been shocked how people act and think. Wow.

Even my mom has said these people are stupid or they are stupid such as she says my elementary school staff was stupid because of how they treated me and what they thought.

Your dad sounds rude. If someone asked me that, I would respond with another question "Why are you so rude and insensitive?"
Or, I would explain that stupid is purely subjective and it's just his opinion that I am stupid while others might not share it.
