I posted this in the other forum but nobody read it.

I want to start a band but I don't know many musicians. I play Guitar. Ideally I want to play punk/rock/hard rock as those are my influences.

Bad Religion
The Hives
Hot Water Music
Division of Laura Lee
The Hellacopters
Goldie Lookin Chain
Kasabian
Arctic Monkeys
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Mando Diao
Oasis
The Caesars
The International Noise Conspiracy
The Who

If this sounds like your thing, and you live in the area............Just let me know I am looking for another guitarist, bassist, and a drummer and maybe someone to do vocals if noone else wants to. I am serious about playing shows.

I originally wrote a post here that explained more about my guitar style but I removed it because I'm honestly not sure what you're looking for. Also I think I'm out of your area since I live near Los Angeles. I guess some further info that might help you in looking for some band members is explain what kind of experience you want them to have. I'm honestly somewhere between beginner and advanced. I say that because I've never really taken lessons so there are advanced techniques I've taught myself but I can't really read music and do some other simple things a beginner taking lessons might already know. I really just play kind of free style on my guitar and I'm not bad... but I don't know what you're skill level is. The difference would be between you and you're band members learning together in an experience... or do you expect them to already have alot under their belts so you can start making good songs immediately?

There's other info too that might help... like since you play guitar do you play lead or rhythm? I play rhythm because I have the most fun with it and I play with a heavy gauge of string so there are frequent times I begin playing my guitar almost as if it was a bass. With the heavy gauge strings I can still play solos and whatnot... but they are usually heavy solos (sorry I don't know how to explain that well) played with more distortion on the upper strings. Really a band doesn't need 2 rhythm guitarists or 2 lead guitarists so it would be good if you specify you're experience.

I'm just trying to give you suggestions so you can find some people who want to play easier. I'm not so sure I'm really a good candidate because I'm for one... rusty as all hell... and for two I don't know any of the bands you mentioned. I've really tailored my style around Metallica's Cliff Burton and James Hetfield... It's not an exact science I just feel my stuff is routed back to things I've heard them play. I also have a thing for classical music so I do play a lot of soft toned ballad like type guitar... which is okay in rock anyway as long as you keep it interesting :P

Plus I may be too metal for the type of rock music you want to play

Actually......anybody who is in the are and around the same age and generally likes "rock" music and some "metal".........this really isn't about the bands I like more that this isn't a Lil Wayne cover band.

I just want to play some rock and punk and maybe some metal regardless if you like those bands or not.

anybody who wants to play live music and knows what they are doing on their instrument and would be comfortable playing live.

I have played guitar for 11 years, but I am not that great. As long as you feel like you are good enough to play live

So how does a band comprised of aspies handle the sensory overload of a performance venue?

Gives new meaning to the words rock and roll.

Hmm.. I would love too, but I don't live around your area, plus I already have another band, for now.

Are we talking Sacramento as well?

All though I do not play an actual instrument, I know how to edit and layer sounds if you ever want to record. I do make a lot of electronic music and I can add in some interesting twist.
