Often I will meet people that are younger than me, but I sense that I'm younger than they are, even though I may actually be older. I know a few people who may think I'm younger than I actually am. Does anyone else ever experience this?

When I was younger, people always thought I was much older than I actually was. Now I'm older and people always think I'm younger than I actually am. So yeah, I understand what you mean.

Not sure if it is the same thing, but I don't feel my age. When I look in the mirror I see some one much older than I feel like on the inside. It's like my "self" doesn't match my body. I wonder if this is related to autism being a development disorder. It's like my self concept isn't fully adult yet.

Me too, I look younger than I am (I'm told). Through a day I'll feel various ages, really old sometimes (when irratated/needing alone time) or really young (when I'm looking forward to something nice).

It's common for autists not to appear their age. We often don't have age-appropriate language, body language, clothing, friends and interests.

When I was a kid, people always thought I was older. I was tall for my age was why. Now as an adult, people tend to think I am younger, even in my teens.

Plus I hit puberty early I think I had a mild case of precocious puberty since I was nine when my nipples stuck out from my chest and that was the first stage of puberty I had reached. To me nine is too early to even start puberty.

I do often feel I am at the level of other teens when I am around them. As a teen I felt younger than them even though they were younger than me or a little older. Plus when I see other young adults I feel younger but I sense they could be younger than me, not older. Then sometimes I feel older like in my 30's. I can remember saying here lot of times I feel like an old woman and not young. But I bet in the future I will look back and see how silly I was back then because 24 was a young age, are you kidding and I thought I was getting old.

Whenever I meet someone new, they always ask me what grade I'm in, and they're shocked when I tell them my real age. I feel mentally younger compared to people who are around my age. A lot of times I feel mentally younger than my 16 year old brother, and he often says he feels older than me as well. I've been told that I function at around a 14 to 15 year old's level, and that if I went to high school now, I'd probably fit in.

I think that has a lot to do with it.

People usually think I'm a teenager (I am 22). I feel about 13 in my head sometimes

I do not feel my age. Also, I have difficulty gauging what is a person's actual age.

I'm very emotionally immature. But I do actually keep maturing, and I'm 45. So I have hope.

Most people I meet feel a lot younger then I am, even people physically twice up to triple my age.
I rarely meet people I can relate sensewise.

I've always been more mentally mature then my social enviroment (I think it's because of my autism that makes it possible), emotionally was always the opposite until recent years - I've been through quite alot which made me older past my physical age group.

If you measure maturity by the usual trappings of adulthood, I'm 23-about 30 years behind schedule. By looks people usually think I'm about 15 years younger than I actually am. As far as how I feel inside, both 9 and 90.
