no, I don't do that. I do tend to have a 'deal with it' philosophy, but my inner resources are limited so my dealing may not be optimum, and yet....one time a pediatric nurse told me I was probably the MOST OBSERVANT AND IN TUNE MOTHER she'd ever met (regarding my Rett Syndrome Daughter who I DIAGNOSED MYSELF)......
......but as for being a whiner, NO, it's a negative trait..... I always discouraged my children from 'whining' by not rewarding the behavior with 'over attention'.....and so my kids were NEVER whiners. Kids are trained to be whiners, or with some, maybe it is genetic. My daughter's husband is a whiner, and thus, when my grandson whines....I tend to think it's from his father's genes..........my kids never whined.
If I am sick enough to need help I ask for it....and I do like to get people's opinions....I like to do research to find out the meaning of symptoms and such, and available remedies and treatments. But, if my kids hurt themselves in a minor way, or had a tummy ache.....I didn't 'over react' or get all warm and fuzzy over it......I just dealt with it REALISTICALLY. Assessed the situation and responded. I took their complaints seriously, for instance bad ear ache means potential ear infection....etc....and I have a Rett Syndrome non-verbal child and so I HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO TUNE INTO REALITY......to assess for her actual NEEDS. (because she can't tell me with words).... I love hand 'feeding her' food........ that makes her happy.
