I stayed up until 12:30AM (Playing a new videogame I bought) and mom woke me up at 10. It's 11:15 and I'm still drained and zoned out. Dad snapped at me and I was in tears. Mom vouched for me saying his tone was harsh but he said it wasn't and slammed the door. I stayed up through Black Friday but that was planned so I was fine (plus on got about a 2hr. nap and went to sleep at 9:30 Friday night. I'm so drained! I've noticed I'm more emotional and sensitive when I have had less sleep. Does this seem familiar to anyone?

Yep, it's not just an autism thing - It just is harder to manage I guess if you are on the spectrum.

Yes. If you don't get enough sleep, you are less able to cope with stress.

Yes. Other people are like that. Even NTs. Ever heard of someone being "grumpy" because they didn't get enough sleep? Same thing.

Yes. Lack of sleep impairs your motor, cognitive and emotional functions. It also impairs the immune system, cell regeneration, the balances and cyclic restorations of various biochemicals, cycles of various hormones, metabolism, GI function, liver function and the body's ability to maintain proper weight (yes, less sleep can make you fatter).

As an Aspie, yes, if I don't get enough sleep, I am more sensitive to everything. I am also more prone to migraines, getting sick, having an allergy flare-up or having GI issues. I generally need about 9 hours of sleep a day. I need a good 7-8 hours straight plus a nap or two during the day.

I am permanently tired due to depression, being tense, always thinking and staying up really late playing video games. I snap pretty much at everything my family says to me, even nice things, and feel guilty afterwards :(

I have depression and sensory issues so when I am tired its like a snowball rolling down a hill-the momentum picks-up and makes everything compound.

YES.

How much sleep do you need to feel okay? With me, it should be at least 8 hours.

I find that the same thing also happens to me, as well. I should be aiming for 8 hours of sleep a night. I get overly sensitive if I don't get enough sleep.
