I know diagnosing celebrites isn't looked very favrably here and this topic has been dicused in the past. Eminem is the fist music artist with lyrcis I could really relate to and "Beautiful" and his part in "Drop the World" are like anthems for AS but his part in "Airplanes" is just more icing on the cake.

allright lets pretend Marshall Mathers never picked up a pen
lets pretend things would have been no different
pretend he procrastinated had no motivation
pretend he just made excuses that were so paper thin they could blow away with the wind
marshall you’re never gonna make it makes no sense to play the game there ain’t no way that you’ll win
pretend he just stayed outside all day and played with his friends
pretend he even had a friend to say was his friend
and it wasn’t time to move and schools were changing again
he wasn’t socially awkward and just strange as a kid
he had a father and his mother wasn’t crazy as s**t
and he never dreamed he could rip stadiums and just lazy as s**t
f**k a talent show in a gymnasium b***h you won’t amount to sh-t quit daydreaming kid
you need to get your cranium checked you thinking like an alien it just ain’t realistic
now pretend they ain’t just make him angry with this sh-t and there was no one he could even aim when he’s pissed it
and his alarm went off to wake him off but he didn’t make it to the rap Olympics slept through his plane and he missed it
he’s gon’ have a hard time explaining to Hailey and Laney these food stamps and this WIC s**t
cuz he never risked s**t he hopes and he wished it but it didn’t fall in his lap so he ain’t even here
he pretends that…

hmmm I never thought that he could be. I never really gave him much notice either, but I do think he needs to come to peace with his mother though.

He is a recovering addict... addiction manifests itself to look very similar to a number of personality disorders, so I can see how you might think that he could have AS, but if he does, he hides it REALLY well. LOL

I don't think he has Aspergers at all. He had had a troubled past and had drug problems both of which contribute to some behaviours that might be "off" but I see it more as defensiveness and sometimes being volatile. Other than that he seems very smart and cunning and good socially, so no I dont think he is AS.

I was just thinking of Jodie Foster because I saw one of her movies yesterday, she seems to have some Aspie traits, its hard to tell tho when you don't know the person, she is very discret as a celebrity but maybe she has a lot of friends and is very social in her personal life.

I have no idea since I don't know him personally, and what people see in the media, usually has very little truth about the celebrity on a personal level.

With that said, I STRONGLY doubt that Eminem could have AS. He obviously displays some very VERY deep anger issues, but that's not an AS trait in itself.

There are other non-entertainment industry celebrities with AS and HFA; and although I neither agree nor disagree, it is said that Microsoft founder Bill Gates has AS. I also believe that Fmr. President George W. Bush could have it, but I have no place to judge.

Even AS would fail to explain his crappy music.

I made a similar post in a similar thread saying literally the same thing. But others made the good point that song lyrics don't always reflect the true feelings of their writer, and it's also true that many people can relate to those lyrics for many different reasons.

To the people saying he isn't an Aspie because he's popular, though, your logic is flawed - of course a celebrity as famous as him will have friends and fans, that doesn't necessarily make him NT any more than lyrics make him Aspie.

i dont think eminem was that socially awkward. i mean he turned out all right, didnt he. he might have had a few strange years in him, but im sure by the time he was in his late teens/20s he was fly funky and fresh. whenever i hear this song and that lyric, im always thinking "yeah right eminem" and does any of his fans actually know what "socially awkward is" other than the nt definition or the media tabloid definition for those kids/adults who do bad things to innocent people, etc.

or just perhaps eminem pulled that lyric out of his ass and said hey that sounds good and cool so lets put it in there so the people will bang their heads to it. word to your mother.

Yeah, I like those songs with Eminem mentioned above, Beautiful and Drop the World.

Sometimes I forget, or don't realize, that the writer might not literally be talking about themselves.

If Eminem was socially awkward I wonder how awkward that really was.

I saw an interview of him recently. He seemed pretty intense with his personal rap writing collection and obsession with the English language.

I personally like him.

This.

Personally, I'm just leaning toward severe anger management issues. The entertainment industry is the place where one is least likely to find an Aspie.

Actually, I saw an interview with him (I think 60 minutes?) and thought the same thing. He talked about his childhood, not fitting in with the other kids, not doing well in school despite being clearly intellegent, having narrow interests. As he was talking about his relationship with words and reading the dictionary he sounded totally AS.
