If there is abuse at home then sending the child to a group home may be appropriate. Group homes are also appropriate for adults with profound developmental delays who require 24 hour supervision.
The program costs $5,000 - $7,000 a month, cash up-front. I don't see this program helping many abused kids as I don't see abusers spending this kind of money on their kids. As for the profoundly delayed adults, this program is for aspie kids only. Personally, this strikes me as very expensive daycare for rich people who don't want to deal with their quirky kids.
In cases of abuse, the state usually pays for group homes.
Concerning this proposed facility, however, I think you are probably right. I think instead of "don't want to,"however, we should say "don't know how to."
Perhaps it is not the children that need much in the way of anything aside from social instructions and the normal things children need. Perhaps it is the parents who need such facilities to teach them how to parent a child with AS?
