Weird senses/abilities?

As a child I would know about 10 feet away from the front door of my family home if the television was on inside. There was no possible way for me to see or hear it. I could just 'feel' it.

I'm wondering if that was due to some of the nervous system hypersensitivity Aspies sometimes experience. I could also unfailingly predict if it was going to rain and what the weather would be like at various times during the day when I was younger. My mother used to ask me before going out if she needed an umbrella or a coat as I was so reliable.

Did/do any others here have similar experiences with unusual senses like this?

I can hear the house alarm system when it's set. It's like a feeling rather than a sound. I mean I feel it with my ears, but it's almost the way you feel static. It's not tangible.

I can feel where walls are in complete darkness without touching them, the sound changes and air pressure rises as you near a wall. Also about the T.V and security system, when electric items are on many give out an electromagnetic hum that most cannot hear. It is very possible that although your conscious self didn't hear it your subconscious self did thus sending out the "feeling" you speak of.

According to that test I can hear 18000Hz but not 19000. I cant hear the low ones, but I think that has more to do with my speakers. I also know when someone's (old) TV is on without seeing it, but it is definitely my sense of hearing that tells me.

I imagine low functioning autistics brains are like a sensory sponge that they can not control.

Sometimes I am so overwhelmed by psychic stimuli that I need to lie down. I often feel what others are feeling, in that my empathy is too much, so I avoid closeness and 'connecting' with others

i too have the weird high pitch noise when TV or other major electronic is on. I can also hear the sound of nothing. Its very hard to explain but if you ever end up completely alone in the middle of nowhere there is a sound out there that you can barely make out in normal day to day.

When living in the Bay Area of California, I used to sense earthquakes before they happened. Really freaked people out with that one. For about a week leading up to the Loma Prieta quake, I was extremely uncomfortable, like I really wanted to crawl out of my own skin. With the Loma Prieta quake and all of it's aftershocks, that was when I figured out what that feeling was, and could pretty much tell when a quake was going to hit and it's approximate magnitude.

Thanks for the frequency test link. I can hear all the frequencies clearly. I guess listening to music on headphones hasn't damaged my hearing too much.

I can hear the hum that computers and TVs make. I don't know how normal this is...I know some NTs who can hear it but it seems like most can't, or they just tune it out automatically. I'm very good at pinpointing where sounds are coming from. I can also detect slight changes in humidity, which gives me a good idea of when it's going to rain.

I know for a fact I can hear 21000 Hz, which is supposedly above the audible range for humans.
