Anyone love Neruda? I love his work mostly because of how he translates his emotional world through first his physical world, he always embraces all the physicalness of being as if he is very in touch with them, almost more in touch with them than how he feels inside, and by being able to relate to his physical world he finds out more about who he really is.
I was looking today for some poems that eloquently sort of put how I felt into poetic words, and all I could think was Neruda would know.
He did, he had a poem called "walking around" which--well read for yourself:
The smell of barbershops makes me break into hoarse
sobs.
The only thing I want is to lie still like stones or wool.
The only thing I want is to see no more stores, no gardens,
no more goods, no spectacles, no elevators.
It so happens that I am sick of my feet and my nails
and my hair and my shadow.
It so happens I am sick of being a man.
