I'm curious, how many people on here actually want to improve their social skills and the social dynamics of their life in some respect or another, and how many are content as they are do not care to improve?

This is a binary yes/no question. If you want to improve at all, even if in a minor way or situation, answer yes, otherwise answer no. If you wish to elaborate on your answer you may do so.

I voted yes, why do you ask though?

I selected 'yes'. However, there are other areas of my life that I'd like to improve first.

I was curious because I had initially been under the impression that most people with AS would like to improve their social skills...at least most people with AS who seek out a website such as this. However, due to the responses to some of posts and responses to some of the posts I have seen on this website, it started to appear to me that some people do not wish to improve their social situation....or at least do not wish to put forth the effort to do so, so I thought I would ask.

The ones I've got at the moment are passable, but I wouldn't mind some better ones.

I've improved a thousandfold since I was a teenager, but I'm still so far off of normal that people regularly harass me about it. I've gotten to the point where I don't care anymore about personal situations, but I'd like to improve enough to be able to not draw attention in work situations.

I'm not overly concerned with "casual" social skills, but I'd definitely like to be able to function more gracefully in work situations.

No, I'm not here to improve my social skills, I have other kinds of problems.

The most important thing to me regarding the understanding of social skills is not how? but why? Why let you discover the intention behind a social exchange.

I am here to talk to people I can relate too, I don't have that many I do people do relate to in my daily life.

Social skills/Social dynamics are a minor issue for me now, although very interesting to learn more about to perfect the art - I share my knowledge and insights here and I learn by teaching.

Cheerfully,
Wallourdes

I picked yes because I probably subconsciously improve on occasion without even willing or being aware of it.

No.
More social skills would end up meaning more friends, which would end in pain for me +others.
People are not worth the effort of being able to anything beyond "polite but distant".

Yes, I found out I can relate to people here in the ways of thinking and experiences more then I do with most people in my daily life. But I think it is to soon to say to which people I can relate to specifically - I just don't know most of you that well.

By now I've developed pretty good social skills. I've learned more by communicating with people on the internet than I could in social skills pragmatics classes.

Social skills are sort of on the periphery of my concerns. Though sometimes things will give me a terrible fright from the corner of my eye and during those times I kind of wished I had payed more attention.
