There seems to be some talk about an emergence of a new developmental disorder called Multiple-Complex Developmental Disorder (MCDD), which some believe should also be on the autistic spectrum.

The strange thing is that the definition fits me than most other definitions I have read. The thing that the definition does not seem to encompass, for some reason, is the special interests that we're all known for. So, if they added that detail, then it probably may be a nearly precise image of who I am, with the exception of some of the stuff in the "thinking disorder" aspect. But, I would likely have enough from there as well.

For some reason, it's not readily recognized, so I wonder how many of these individuals there are and how they can adequately function without appropriate therapies in place? It is said that they benefit from some of the therapies used in typical ASDs, such as sensory therapies and so forth. I believe that these individuals probably need to find ways to channel their intense and at times irrational emotions. Digging heavily into a special interest is probably one such maneuver.

I've never heard of it. Could you explain what MCC entails?

This will tell you all about it. It's typically used in some European countries. It will probably take years before it hits the US. There seems to be something about newer PDDs and the US, because it took years for AS to be recognized here as well. And MCDD is just an emergence. It's not that understood and quite controversial, even in Europe.

Wow, that's very interesting. I can't say that I identify with it for the most part, though.
In what ways do you think that it describes you?

Intense episodes of confusion and rage that can last from a few hours to a few days, usually sort of a result of frustration. A sense of a need for attachment when things don't go right, shifting to a sense for independence when things are working. Typically, I am quite paranoid about how many treat me, and don't desire friendships because of it. My primary special interests take on a kind of "fantasy" lifestyle that has been misinterpreted as delusional thinking. It's these sorts of things that make me wonder.
