Freeing the mind
It feels good just being myself and not caring about what I'm expected to be. I've been doing this for weeks now and I feel real. I no longer feel dirty and fake for trying to conform to socieities BS and be something I'm not. For example if theres a party on in my house (it obviously wasn't me that invited the people over) when I walk into the presence of a load of people and theres bound to be one person in there that'll turn the spot light on me I'll turn this against them by either giving them a 1 or 2 word reply that is sure to foil any attempt to lure me into a conversation or I'll just ignore them completely. When I ignore them completely they'll often assume I'm angry or sad or something and they ask me "are you alright" or "whats wrong" and more attention gets turned to me so I find a short 1 to 5 word reply is the way to go. This works really well and it often comes across to them like I'm being highly witty and condescending. This is offensive to them and they consider it rude but I don't care because for me to play into it and join the conversation is equally painful for me. I can interact with people well and my social skills aren't that bad but I find having a ruth canal more enjoyable than socialising so I no longer do it unless I have a good reason to.

if people on the spectrum make up 1% of the population then they'd have plenty of customers.

I'm glad you decided you wanted to be more like yourself, because it's what makes you more unique and that's what most people would respect you for, not for being another person but just being your own person.
Trying to be somebody that you are not just doesn't feel right and it does eventually get to the point where you will just freakout and you wouldn't know what to do and it does get very overwhelming, I even almost had a breakdown just for being someone I was not just to fit into the sociality.
Just go with the flow and don't let anybody try to change you.
