This is my first time making a thread form my boost Juno

I know form my self and others with ASD and or other disability, at times suffer form depression that depression can be cause by not being understood by our neurotypical peers, I'm not saying NT don't get depressed so this thread is not just for those with ASD, bioblar, M.M.R, NLD, ADD,
ADHD, and other neurological disorder and are diseases such as AIDS, HIV, neurofibromatiosis, cancer, M.S ect, it not to say if depression is real or not, it is to answer how do you deal with it.
this is a web glossary of depression.

Quote:
If you've been struggling with major depressive disorder, also known as depression, its symptoms are all too familiar to you

Sadness or excessive crying
Loss of interest or pleasure in activities that used to be enjoyable
Changes in appetite (more or less) or weight (gaining or losing)
Feeling tired
Difficulty sleeping—too little or too much
Agitation or doing things more slowly
Negative thoughts, including thinking about death
Feeling worthless or guilty
Poor concentration or having difficulty making decisions
Low energy level
If your depressive symptoms have not been resolved, and you don't want to give up the progress you've already made, you have an additional option. Your doctor can evaluate your treatment plan and if appropriate, make changes. It's important when talking to your doctor to be open and honest about any depressive symptoms you may be feeling.

The only drug I have found to work on me is simple caffeine. As long as I don't take too much, I can usually function pretty well on it. If it gets really bad I have an electric fence charger to shock myself. The problem is that when it gets that bad, its hard to get the strength up to use it.

I adjust my diet. While a healthier and more well balanced diet doesn't make it go away, it does minimize it.

What does 'nape' mean? Do you mean nap?

If so, I find napping makes things worse - I always wake up feeling groggy and inexplicably angry if I go to sleep during the day.

I try to distract myself, with household chores, cooking, reading . . . not that it works terribly well, but well enough.

Napping makes it worse for me, as well. Getting up and moving more works much better.

Hi,

Are you depressed or do you have Depression(clinical)? There is a difference.

Have a look at possible triggers that are making you depressed. If you are at the point where you are struggling to function, incessant and unexplained crying, loss of appetite or sleeping too much or too little, you should speak to your doc. I remember Temple Grandin mentioning somewhere that she takes anti-depressants and is of the opinion that Prozac seems to work well with adults on the Autistic spectrum.

Mindfulness and acceptance therapy are some of the techniques I use from therapy.

Take good care of yourself and don't let it get out of hand.

Mics

I'm trying to exercise more to help combat depression. Running twice and swimming once per week. I don't think I've been doing it long enough to determine whether it's helping or not.

Although I've noticed I get depressed if I spend too much time indoors, so just being outside can help. This is actually one of the reasons I'm running outdoors rather than on a treadmill. Plus running seems to be a natural thing for humans to do, hence our big glutes.

Here's my toolkit:

*Exercise
*Sticking to a good diet
*Meditation
*Lots of stimulating mental activity (but not too much)
*Giving myself new challenges (but not too many, and not harder than I can deal with)
*Getting out of the house as much as I can bear
*Positive thinking

It's quite hard work, not being depressed. I think that's why so many people are. I guess that in the past, life would mostly revolve around activities that were naturally good for the human being. Nowadays we seem to need to artificially induce wellbeing.

I take like 4 antihistamines and sleep. I'm a coward... but by the time I've realized that I'm anxious and incredibly unhappy, there is no way I can function or even sleep naturally.
:| I have a bottle of antidepressant medication (Welbutrin? Can't remember) but I won't even try.

Topical depression topic

This may seem familiar, as some posters have written similar replies.

Physical exercise--at least one hour per day. I use my road bike or exercise cycle, and burn 500 calories just doing this.

As little processed food as possible.

Lots of water.

Deep breathing.

Fish oil capsules--three per day, at mealtimes.

Decaf tea/coffee, but I do have a real coffee in the morning.

Having pets and writing helps as well, and engaging in my my special interests.

Following the news, and learning something new everyday. (There is a thread on this here at WP.)

Nothing really "works" for me too well. I need activity and mental stimulation but it's hard to come by when I'm depressed.
