I know i should have posted this question in the school/college life section of the site but i will decide to post this here instead.

I am now 21 but nearly 10 years ago in september 2001 I started elementary school (we call it senior school in England). I just turned 12 years old when I started school. In my religous education lesson my teacher at first gave me a funny attitude and as the first weeks of school carried on her attitude got darn right hostile towards me even though I was a well behaved student. the third lesson i had with her me and a few students were late and as i entered the room she said something to me and i kinda ignored her and she then got angry and rasied her voice at me and gave me a lunchtime detention. Nearly all of the teachers in school i got a long with (except the art teacher) I got along very well with because i was very studious even though I did need learning suppurt assistants in nearly all of my lessons excluding PE and Religious Eductiaon. Anyway back to the point when i was late she picked on me inparticular. During my luncthime detention i talked to the teacher and got to know her better and after that we got along like a house on fire, ironcily she ended up being my favourite teacher and we had no disagreements since.

Do you think at first she was hostile to me because it had it down on my school records that I was on the autistic spectrum and had a learning disability?

I have not seen my religous education teacher in five years because i finished that school in 2006 to move onto college.

It's hard to say. It's possible that she had a preconception about you due to some information in your records, but it's also possible there was something in your behavior that made her think something about you that she later discovered was not true. I think the only way you can know is to contact her and see if she remembers what her first impression of you was.

It may not have had anything to due with autism. Maybe she misread a lack of eye contact or response to non-verbal communication as you being "stand-offish" or shady.

I just read up that some teachers can be hostile when having a student who is on the spectum. Mind you though even most of my class were NT's i think there was one other student (who is legendary for being good at drama) who had some type of AS.

As for my records well when I was 8 before i joined elementary i was VERY badly behaved to my teachers but i grew out of it and was well behaved for the remaining 2 years of juniour school so maybe that was why she was weary of me?

Yes I know what you mean about lack of eye contact but also religous education was the lesson where i did not have a learning suppourt assistant so maybe the suppourt assistant was not there to explaing things to the teacher????

I do remember in my first or second lesson with her she did say to me infront of the class that i was a "nightmare" when it came to organisation or something like that but i do not remember clearly because it was such a long time ago.
