I love children's books, especially picture groups for the preschool to early elementary set. The children's section of Barnes and Noble is one of my favorite places. I even have a favorite spot in the children's section of Barnes and Noble. Provided no one takes that spot away from me, I can sit on the floor there reading one picture book after another, and be happy for hours. Parents who come with their kids and see me there undoubtedly think I'm strange, but I can live with that.
I can get pretty excited about toys, too. Back when my former boyfriend S and I were still together we went to an awesome toy store called FAO Schwartz together a few times. The first time we went there together, it was my first time visiting the store in well over a decade, and I was getting very visibly excited by all the toys there. S was quite amused by this, and I think some other customers were amused as well.
I've also seen and enjoyed a number of children's movies in my adult life. S and I saw a few Pixar movies when we were together. He's quite aspie-ish himself, and he quite liked Pixar movies and he took a particular interest in the video shorts that they always showed before the actual movie. S and I had a lot of fun watching Pixar movies together. It wasn't my decision to end things, and I still really miss him.
Anyway, I've veered from the original topic here. My point is, my chronological age might be very grown up, but my personality and interests continue to defy said chronological age. I'll most likely never really grow up. Being a grown-up strikes me as quite boring and tedious.
