Does anyone here have AS/ASDs as a special interest?

Who? Me?

Currently I am very focused on AS/ASD. It's a relatively new thing, Not sure if it will go away or not. I am quite irritated that most of the recent research is available only in for pay formats. Oh well.

Same, although I've been reading about it off and on prior to this for a couple of years.

My special interest is human interaction. I believe Aspies have a unique perspective observing the world as outsiders.

Yep, although it hasn't been mine in the past. I was obsessed if I was on the autism spectrum (still unsure about this,) a couple of months back.

Yes, AS and ASD have been a special interest for me ever since I found out that I have AS.

Yes for about 6 months now, I don't know what I'll do when I run out of WP threads to read
(I know there's new ones every day but I've been reading here for 12h/day the last months)

Yes, I amass internet resources and literature about it

I used to, from about November 2008 until this May. I prefer it when I don't have ASDs as a special interest, I got really fed up with it after a while.

YES! for over a year.....I try to keep the intensity of my interest secret…… especially from my mom.....because the extent of the irony in it is just embarrassing !

I may take you up on that.

I did for a few months after I learned of it some years back. Now, nothing is ever new, so I have lost interest. At best it's "Oh, how interesting! I'd forgotten that I read that years ago."

It started for me when my son was diagnosed and then intensified when I started recognizing myself ( I think I'm PDD-NOS). I talked about it so much at first that when I made an innocuous comment about something my son did, people would automatically assume I meant it had something to do with Asperger's even if I didn't. I keep it to myself because I realized I was boring and irritating people.
