Oh my gosh, I can't stop doing all my stims: rocking, hand flapping, finger twirling, hair twirling, uhh I don't think the other ones have official names, but you get my point. This just started today. What is going on? I'm never like this. I'm not this bad when I'm severly stressed. I would rate my stress level as minimal, as low as it ever is. I'm bored out of my mind, that might have something to do with it. But I'm usually really good at controling myself. Does this happen to other people? Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop? Thanks in advance

I'm watching tv, playing an online game, and reading posts here. Hmm maybe I'll go play with the dog for a while.

I have a lot of moments, when I can't sit still. You're not the only one.

I get this a lot, just can't sit still have to move, have trouble finishing thoughts, let alone organizing them, stimming/fidgeting. I think it's hyperactivity from my ADHD, since it usually happens when I've slowed down on the caffeine (annoying being unmedicated).

I tend to stim more when I'm bored as well. As others have said, you need to find something to occupy your mind. Though I admit that can be easier said than done at times...

Thanks for the reassurance that I'm not losing my mind. Working with my dog helped a lot. I've been thinking about doing some polish work with her and start using her as a service dog. Hmm, I don't know though. From what I've read, it's best to have an official diagnosis in case of legal issues, and I'd have to be willing to defend my access rights when I'd rather just avoid confrontation. That's the ongoing debate in my mind, but observing how she can directly help me really supports the pro side of the argument.

I get that too. The other night I was rolling around on the floor next to a stereo which was playing Les Miserables on a high volume while twirling my hair (what's left of it!) rocking side to side and thumping my feet on the floor. I have triple problems though because when I am not stimming due to my autism, I am ticcing because of my Tourettes or fiddling because of the ADD symptoms which come with Tourettes... I can't win!

Interesting that your dog helps you. My rabbit helps me to calm down! (She bites my hands and bottom when I am getting stressed and re-directs me to petting her!)
