I was going straight across a one-way road (with cross-traffic coming from my right). There was a stop sign for me, but not cross-traffic. I have trouble remembering if I came to a complete stop or rolled through the stop sign, though I did at least slow quite a bit as I approached the stop sign. There was a car coming rather close, but I felt a strong urge to try to outrun it; it was as though I could outrun it. I actually did outrun it, but another car was on its right and I could not outrun that one, causing the accident.

Hindsight is 20/20....but you shouldn't have tried to beat that other car.

Are you okay? At least you have insurance--so you don't have to pay for the other car. Do you have comprehensive insurance?

I'm sorry this happened to you.

the stop sign is there for a reason; usually that means that you can't see all the priority traffic (as happened here).

basically, your confidence got the better off of you.

I am sorry this happened to you.

I had my first car accident a couple of years ago and it was my fault. Car was then in the shop for three weeks. I was in an unfamiliar city as far as driving in it was concerned. I was stuck there for three weeks waiting for the car to get fixed so I could drive two more days to get home. At least I had relatives living there where I was stuck. Ever since then I have had this fear of going to jail and it's like I got PTSD from it. Massive amounts of anxiety for weeks after. Nobody was hurt but someone could have been.

If you can help it, don't wait too long to "get back in the saddle". And don't take risks like you did. I often wait over long for turn or cross traffic. Drives my husband and probably the people behind me crazy, but better to be sure than not sure and hit or be hit.

The other car was in a blind spot, probably covered by the slower car - the stop sign was there for a reason. The slower car was slowing down because it was preparing to turn left and a faster car was passing it on right.
I had similar situation once but I hit the brakes in time.
