"you might be an aspie if" threads -- video?
This might be a dumb idea, but I'm going to ask it anyway! I'm really fascinated by previous threads here and on other forums that deal with "you might be an aspie if..." I've literally spent hours reading these things, and each time the phrase is posed, I seem to come across new and interesting answers.
So, here's what I'm wondering: wouldn't it be rather neat to do this in other media -- say, in audio or video clips that are somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds long? And then to possibly combine some or all of these clips into one video montage? Again, this might be silly, but since I'm a visual sort of person (as are many of you here, I assume), this sounds like a potentially cool direction.
Also, I'm currently working on a webtext/multimedia project for a graduate course on digital media and composition. My project, in its very rough stages right now, deals with transparency, AS, and composition, and I'm including a large narrative portion about my own literacy (both print and digital literacy) experiences. I'm trying to make my project more multimodal, though, because right now it is very text-heavy. I'm also hoping to submit this project to an online composition journal (such as Computers and Composition Online) once it's finished. If anyone would be willing to help me out here with a sound or video clip, that would be really awesome. I'm particularly interested in 1) the "you might be an aspie if" stuff up above, and 2) the intersections you see between Asperger's/autism/NVLD and literacy (reading and writing, but also your familiarity with computers). I would combine these clips into a short video and post it on YouTube, and also use it within my project.
I'm not sure of the best way to do this... if you're able to post a YouTube clip here, I can extract the video with Vixy or something or other. Or you could post a URL. If that's too complicated, you could PM me, or email me at myergeau AT gmail DOT com. Again, I'm not sure how silly this request is, but I'm really hoping that this sort of exploration will aid English and writing teachers in their teaching approaches!
P.S. Here is my project so far: http://aspierhetor.com/dmac/
...Again, it's a VERY rough draft. But I thought it might be useful, in case you're wondering what the heck I'm trying to do...
It definatly isn't a dumb idea,
I would like to sent you a short clip if it helped you,
but you're right when you say that it's still a rough idea.
If you have a concrete setup and know what you need I'd be happy to help, and I'm sure there are a lot of other people here who would also like to help. Only so that I havn't really thought about "You may be an aspie if...." I (almost) always knew, so it was never interesting for me to wonder, but I'll give it some time in the next couple of days.
