Well, "congratulations on being an Aspie" is a lot like "congratulations on finding out that the lump is malignant". It's appropriate in the context that someone has been seeking an answer and now they have one. The answer isn't neccessarily something worth celebrating. I can picture the conversation now: "Dude, you're getting a Dell!" "Yeah, but you've got brain damage! Some people have all the luck. High-fives, dude!" "Dude!"
