I recently read that Dr. Asperger had a different name for Asperger's syndrome. He called it "autisic psychopathy." Discuss.

This just in: those with mental retardation used to be called idiots.

Who cares about outdated terminology?

I thought mental retardation had a new name. Or is it not until 2013?

:)

I rather like "autistic psychopathy" myself. It makes me feel kind of wicked!

Hey you dillweeds, you want to mess with me? Don't even try it; I am a freakin' autistic psychopath!

I like the term "autistic psychopathy" too. It makes me sound a lot tougher than the term that sounds like I'm a fried sandwich that came out of someone's behind.

Well, if people would pronounce it correctly, it wouldn't sound like that. It should be AH-sper-gers, not ASS-bur-gers. When I hear people call it ASS-bur-gers, I often have to fight off dismissing them as ignorant morons out of hand.

This is exactly why I like the DSM-V shift in terminology.

I thought it odd because a psychopath is incapable of emotion but is an excellent mimic of emotion. Aspies have emotion (I myself am very sensitive) and have trouble showing them. We're the complete opposite of a psychopath!

He called it "autistische psychopathie" (translated by some to "autistic personality disorder").
