How do you fare in the world? Do people bypass your socially awkward behavior because you have a lot of superficial qualities?

i suspect that the number-crunchers for hedge funds, and the brains of silicon valley, have a high representation of HFAs working for them. i am also sure those folk could have their pick of the babes, no matter what they looked like. bill gates never won any beauty contests but his brains more than made up for any shortcomings elsewhere. NT or whatnot, truly attractive people are rare outside of show business/athletics.

I think that would be a bad generalization to make. You might offend a few people on here knowing this forum.

I make enough money that I could wear trendy clothes, own a McMansion, and drive an expensive new car. But I don't. Most people probably think I'm poor because I wear what's comfortable from Wal-Mart or the second hand store. I want my cars to last 10+ years. And I don't want to be bothered doing upkeep on a giant house. Nor do I want to live in a fancy trendy neighborhood because I don't like having neighbors.

Thus no superficial qualities you mentioned despite my generous job. So no, I was never good at attracting anyone. The low paid jocks going to dance clubs every night probably had more luck than me.

Maybe same here... Nothing fancy, and most clothes from eBay, and always used cars. Our house is a long-term investment (since there's not really any place to put money in this economy). And I hate having nearby neighbors too... So we're on 20 acres with the house right in the middle  . I don't know a lot of other people with Asperger's, but I think there is a good chance that those with any assets, have a better outlook on keeping and increasing them, than those who are more into the image thing; an NT trait as far as I know. The people we bought this house in SoCal from, had a brand-new Hummer and a brand-new Mercedes. And they had a loan of 110% on the house 8O ! !! We found out that those people kept up their lifestyle of spending bigtime, and they got foreclosed from their next house, a year or so after they sold us this one to get out from under the debt. My wife deserves the best, but she chose a 3-year-old Lexus, and I have a 6-year-old Toyota truck (our newest vehicles). And we don't have a loan on the house! (nobody's business, but making a point).

I dont too badly, buy designer clothes from Debenhams and eBay but always try shoppin in the sales. Ive almost got my full registration as a healthcare pro so I'm looking forward to working, helping people and earning a decent wage- I'm a hard worker with Aspergers, my first job was in a chemist earning 4.38 an hour when i was 19. That went up after 3 months and they couldnt afford to keep me on :-( now I'm almost able to run the place.

Great plan, have a car that's not very expensive and a nice enough house you can keep clean yourself. The house in the middle of a field in Southern California sounds like a good idea.

I do some research, hoped that would get me some recognition but my oldest piece I've Been researching for perhaps 7 years hasn't moved very far recently. Currently looking at pathways in autism and how to treat it and going to consider how to modify the neurobiochemistry to treat epilepsy.(it interests me, it's an amazing feeling when you discover something new)

I'm okay looking, but I don't have money (I'm a student). But I do have a great personality, I'm very funny and smart, and I'm a good friend. Those count for something to some people.

What was it Dr. Seus said? "Those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter."

Its taken a while for me to find my way in the world and now things are looking good financially. My mum always said I was very tight with money and I totally agree. I don't go out much and prefer to just stay at home and watch movies, garden or listen to music so I save money easily. I didn't earn much money for a long time so I've gotten used to living cheaply.

It also helps to live in a country that is doing relatively very well economically and to work in an industry that is booming. I've been told by many that I am attractive but when you work in a male dominated job, travel a lot and are very shy, your chances of meeting someone and forming a relationship are slim. Besides, I like my solitude, but it would be good to have someone to cuddle every now and again.

I've got a lot of money. I barely spend it. I'm moderately attractive.

Your a massively jacked guy with a good job(I am assuming). Not something you really see every day at all.

You are also married. Hence, my case in point

I'm no economist but I believe there were many many other factors
