Is there anyone I can share my Ender's Game obsession with?
I'm currently reading Ender's Shadow, having just completed Earth Unaware. I've read the comics: The War of Gifts and Mazer in prison.
I flaunt around in my Battle School t-shirt that's showing wear from overuse, pine for that official Ender's Game: 2013 shirt that was given out for free at Comic Con. I trawl Ebay for it every now and then. There was a competition to win it and I told the organisers 'why put it up as a prize? I'll give you $1000 for it now!'
I think about the character and the sub-plots of the different books in the saga I've read.
I visualise what the homeless kids in Ender's Shadow look like so clearly I feel like drawing them. I see Sergeant as a skinny knobbly kneed kid with big ears sticking out, a long oversized army coat and one of those old fashioned 1930 caps (what are they called?) drooping down one side of his head, that he has to keep on adjusting.
I always think about the actors in the movie coming out next year and wonder how they will be. Excited is an understatement.
I imagine what the video game: The Battle Room Null G will be like, especially on the iPad's 360 degree controls. Or even on the X-Box's motion sensors. And I want to play it now!
I pick up the slang the launchies use and use it in everyday conversation.
I'm allowing it to be a 'non-functional- interest though I can put it down as 'research.' I'm writing my own sci-fi trilogy and like for each interest to relate to it in some way.
I question the themes a lot, like I don't think you need to be necessarily gifted to go to Battle School. The gifted people I've known aren't very empathetic. And I believe that a person's intelligence isn't set in stone at an early age, or even after they finish school. I'm evidence of that.
In Ender's Shadow too, maybe it's the nativity of Bean but I think especially with Achilles he could have misinterpreted it because that could be interpreted many ways. But no, even the adults think that's what happened (I'm only up to page 99, so don't tell me what happens).
I pretty much called the ending of Ender's Game half way through so maybe I'm right again, or can see what OSC is doing.
I love being vague. I just don't want to spoil it for people who haven't read those books yet.
And I can't exactly share this with anyone. I haven't had such an intense interest in a long time.
NOVA NOVA NOVA!
I'm going to go back to reading Ender's Shadow before my meds wear off.

I'm not obsessed, nor even close to this, but I do like the books. I am really very interested with the latter books from the series, and especially with the world of Lusitania - I try to visualize the world, in which there are just a few species of plants and other living beings, all of them altered by Descolada. I wonder what it would be like to live in such primitive conditions, on such a planet.
I am currently looking for a new special interest that will "click" with me, and, having exhausted most TV shows and movies, I am now looking towards books. Ender's Game sounds intriguing, so I am going to try it out. Who knows, maybe it'll become my special interest too, and then I can talk about it with you.
I got really into Speaker For the the Dead/Xenocide/ Children of the Mind.
My favourite book by Orson Scott Card would be Xenocide.
I need to go back to it so I can find out (again - bad memory) why the Formics attacked Earth.
I suppose I could join an Ender's Game forum.
It's just that I never get on with other NT fans. I don't understand it. It's like the usual social differences trigger when I try to share with them.
Most EG fans are now ZOMG ASA BUTETRFIELD IS SO HOAWT!! or some other actor I don't know anything about.
Maybe I should act that way about Harrison Ford or Ben Kingsley. You know, just to make fun of them.
I'm not very good with people.
But I prefer to talk about similar interests with other people that have AS.

It's a good time for it. You could probably get through a few books before it's released in November 2013.
Yay, for eventually talking about it!
