When I join a new forum, I tend to go overboard and comment on a bunch of threads and comment to a lot of people. I'm excited about being here and it's all new information to me. I want to read and contribute.

Most of the forums I've been on, this hasn't been an issue at all. I don't think it is an issue here. There's really too many people for anyone to even notice how much I'm participating and make a judgment on it. There have been a couple places where I've been called out, one was particularly nasty. There was nothing combative in my posts but she really had a hard-on for "putting me in my place", I guess. Ever since that incident, I'm a bit gunshy. I figure I'm oversensitive about this because I'm an aspie... I figure anybody else would've let it go by now... and, you know, I don't think about the original incident as much as I just have a tension about it happening again someplace else.

Can anyone relate?

I tend to post a lot on new forums, and sometimes continue the pattern for a year or more.

I've actually managed to cut back on the worst of my own excesses, though.

You can never post on WP too much, or too little. Every member is different and that's what I like about this particular web community.

When I have joined a new forum, I have done lot of new postings. But I also check the dates on the posts because sometimes places are bothered with thread bumping because they are from like a few years ago or from a year ago and the OP doesn't even come to the forum anymore or the issue has been long over and passed. That could have been the case with you.

But I have never gotten in trouble for it before except on a forum I hadn't been to in months or a year, I do a search on "Aspergers" and reply to threads that popped up not even paying any attention the the time stamps and then I saw I couldn't post again for another 24 hours and I thought there was maybe a limit to how many posts you can make a day. Then I saw my warning level was at ten percent and there was a mod note left for me for the reason why for the warning and it said bumping threads on mental illness that were a week old. They have that dumb rule there and any threads that have been dead for more than seven days is considered bumping and and they don't want it. I didn't even pay any attention to the dates on the posts when I was replying to them. Some places are that strict so pay attention to the time stamps if you wish to use a search button. So this was never a huge issue for me.

I can relate. But it's a shock that anybody notices it. I kinda look at posts/threads and most of the time I don't notice names unless the person putting the posts has got something that I find very interesting or the person has a very interesting avatar. I remember avatars not names. I hate it when they change the avatar. It feels like a different person is behind the thread/post.

I post a lot when I join a forum. After the first 1000 posts I settle down.
Sometimes it hard to feel comfortable to post a lot on a forum, especially non-NT ones.

Yes it's weird that they would do that.....I can't see what they're afraid of, and even if it turns out to be something valid, why don't they just lock their old threads?

I don't think it's possible to post too much. Do they object to the large number of posts per se, or do they count the total number of words and base their judgement on that? Either way, I just don't see the problem. As long as it's all reasonably on-topic and respectful, what the hell?
