I find that if I even watch clips of a movie or tv show that depict a very capable proactive character, it motivates me to operate better. Anyone else get inspired this way?

I'm inspired by people who are able to overcome severe hardship.

I'm influenced by the Q from Star Trek
to the point where this year I won three awards at my club's anniversary dinner:

1) Quantum Leap Award
2) Ten Forward Award (for most newsletter submissions to the ship's newsletter)
3) Certificate of Appreciation

Banquet was yesterday. I didn't attend, but received the news by e-mail today. 8)

Have you ever had Klingon cuisine?

Yes ... once attended a Klingon Chocolate Banquet at a convention years ago.

Here's a related handy phrase in the Klingon language:

nuqDaq yuch Dapol

It means: "Where do you keep the chocolate?" 8)

Either they work it off in battle ... or die in battle.
Klingons tend to have short life spans, as mortals go.
So I suppose they don't worry about the effects of chocolate on their hips ...

I'm a bit of a dreamer so it usually stirs something in me but never enough to better myself

I believe the more literal translation is, "Give me all your chocolate or I will rip your throat out."

(Sorry, Ezra, I think we have derailed your thread. :D

The little boy in the movie "Sounder."

He was the son of Southern sharecroppers---both illiterate, but both determine to give him an education.

Was not acquainted with the movie so I googled it ...
Sounds like a good movie, and the book even better.
Sounds like something I would have watched and read
when I was much younger, if only I would have known about it.

When I was younger, I read a story about a character named Judy Moody who supposedly learned to spell big words by putting a dictionary under her pillow. I put a dictionary under my pillow to see if it would work. I wanted to be better at spelling.

Interestingly enough, I got 100% on spelling tests for the rest of the year. But only that year.

Oh, TOTALLY!! I would give almost anything if I could be Annie Gibson's friend, and live near her when she lived on Salem Street. She had a really rough life (like me - NON-Aspie-related), but she's such a strong woman----makes me wanna say: "Go get 'em, girl!!"; and, it makes me happy and I find renewed strength. Also, she designs / makes clothes (like me), to make ends meet; and, other things about her family and stuff, is like my "stuff". I've read the book, several times----I just can't imagine ever getting enough of it!! Also, there's more of them, in the series, and I'm just gonna keep the faith that one day I'll be able to afford to buy all of them.

No, because they aren't real. But you are a real person, Ezra, and I have been inspired by your posts on quite a few occasions. :thumleft:
