I am currently suffering from insomnia...

Suffering? f**k that! Being nocturnal is bomb. My 2 favorite times of the day are late late at night and crack of dawn early in the morning, because no one is up but yourself. Anyone else feel this way?

Insomnia and a nocturnal sleep cycle really shouldn't be confused. I've had both. My insomnia isn't too bad unless I'ms tressed lately. A nightcap generally shuts up my hyperactive brain.

But since I work evenings it's more convenient for me to be nocturnal. Late at night is my favorite time. The roads are so completely empty that it's like I'm the last person on earth. I sometimes like to think to myself, what if everyone really did dissapear.

I have been like that since I was a kid staying up very late. And now I find myself up at 3 and sometimes 4 in the morning. When I was younger I used to like to go for walks in the summer late at night or go out for long drives - not really too safe nowaday though.

i love late, late at night and being up at the crack of dawn
it's gorgrous to be in such silence , it's like being taken back to a long time ago when technology and cars didn't exist , there's just nature .
i love watching sunrise too , but only if i've had a good nights kip :star:

I used to suffer from horrible insomnia as a kid. It would take me hours to fall asleep, and I'd still wake up at the crack of dawn. My parents, however, always got very angry when either or both of these things happened. Namely, they kept saying: "No moving around! Sleep!" or "You had a chance to sleep, so why did you wake up so early?" As a result, I fantasized about moving out of my parents' home (at the age of 6), so I could wake up as early as I want.

My son and I both suffer from insomnia. Well, I suffer from it. He states that night time is his favorite time to be awake because it's more peaceful.

I hate having insomnia. I'm not a true insomniac, because I do eventually fall asleep, it just takes me hours and hours. The thing is, I'm typically too tired to do anything by 10:00 or 11:00, but once I'm in bed and the lights are off then my eyes don't want to stay shut. They just want to stare out open, and my brain doesn't want to be quiet. I'm so tired, but not sleepy at all. I hate it.

I've missed 20 days of school this year because of my sleeping disorders. 8O

Apart from the times when I had to go to early morning classes or exams at university, I used to stay up very late and go to bed as everyone else was getting up as this was my favourite time of the day to be awake. I miss being able to do that.

I love being up before everyone. It's like my own special time to be alone, and I benefit a lot from having three hours before school starts to do whatever I want (I wake up at four AM).

Unfortunately I have some insomnia problems; I can never get to sleep easily, and I sleep lightly. I also cannot bear to sleep on my back--does anyone else have that problem?

Only time Ive ever been able to sleep on my back is when I pass out on a plane or like on a long drive in the passanger's seat. Otherwise its gotta be a side. I have a problem where Ill be tired as hell but when I lay down and close my eyes, my imagination runs wild. I get great ideas for things to write(Im a poet per se) or like Ill be watching my mind create animated cartoons. Sometimes Ill see things like the visualizations that are done by like winamp or windows media player for while listening to music. Sometimes Ill see pure black with a color blotch moving around with my eye movements. These are all when I have my eyes shut. Sometimes I see realistic enacments of people I know. Id like to think Im dreaming at this point but Im not because Im still able to move around and concious of my movements.

I hear ya. Although I usually like to really sleep in, lately I've been enjoying waking up earlier, like around 7. Maybe it's a flashback from my childhood, when I used to always wake up early and my parents used to rag me about it. Or maybe it's because I'm getting old. In either case, it's so nice to have all that extra time in the morning.

I prefer being up when everyone else is sleeping because it is so peaceful. But if I don't get about ten hours of sleep I'm tired all day.
