After a psych eval, my psychiatrist diagnosed some sort of developmental disorder, what she thought was a combination of ADD and ASD (formal ASD assessment is scheduled for this summer). To rule out ADD, she prescribed 12 mg of dexmethylphenidate. While it does improve my focus, it re-routes that focus into perseverative loops. Obsessive hyperfocus. Just reading the same thing over and over and over again and unable to think about anything else. It is also making me stim NON-STOP and increasing sensory sensitivity a lot. Been rocking and flapping my hands and touching my face since taking the first dose 2 hours ago and it feels like I will shut down or have an anxiety attack if I stop, partially due to sensory overload. Also making facial tics way worse.

Are these typical responses to ADD medication for someone with ASD alone? Particularly the stimming and sensory stuff.
